Wow this has probably been the least stressful week of my life and I LOOOOVE it! OMG I can’t even tell you…. getting to go to the beach, go to some clubs, volunteer at the art gallery, help with hospital charities, do some drawings, and meet with some of my friends. I got to spend some time with my mother and sister and hung out with them for a few days, even spent some time with the kids in the neighborhood and got to meet their parents. It’s been really relaxing at home and peaceful…. soooo nice. I can’t even describe.
I found a wonderful art studio that’s pretty local that is hiring freelance artists to come in and teach classes to students. I went there today and showed them my portfolio and some hands-on work and they were impressed and want me to come in next week during an art workshop so I can see how things are normally run and if they (and I) are still interested, then they’ll possibly hire me as a part-time artist at the studio. This is like a dream come true! So for the next week I’ll be doing LOTS of portrait drawings so I can have some pg-rated art (sorry, they’re not too keen on me showing kids how to do pin-up drawings LOL)….. but they want me to specialize in teaching kids or adults how to do portraits and shadowing techniques. More than likely they’ll start me off with kids and see how I teach and if they get good reviews, they’ll move me up to teaching adults. So there’s a good chance by this time next week I could be an art teacher at an art studio!!! Isn’t that GREAT????
It’s like a dream come true….. I could just cry…. that’s all I’ve ever wanted to do was be able to spread the love of art to other people and teach others what I know… when I was a kid I NEVER had opportunities like this and if I could do THEN what I do NOW then there’s no telling where I’d be if I had instruction.
Me and some friends donated sweatpants, sweatshirts, blankets, and pillows to Edgemoor Hospital because right now they are asking ALL people who are willing to give clothing or warm things to please donate. When people send their donations, it goes to what they call EdgeMart which is like a little place in the hospital where the patients get to browse and pick what they want and has room for their wheelchairs and stuff, kind of like a shopping place except it’s all free and only for patients. Most of the people there are elderly and I wanted to donate personal things too since they requested them, but I doubt they’d want a Christina Aguilera cd or a lava lamp. I’m thinking of maybe donating some board games or dominoes or SOMETHING that older people might like. I have so much stuff I own that I don’t use, and I want to help them so bad. There was a time in my life where someone did the same thing for me around Christmas time.
