More art stuff (of course)

Current Wardrobe: black spaghetti strap satin t-shirt, black lacy push-up bra, black lacy thong, blue jeans, black fashion boots, black knee high trouser socks

I have found one of the best coffee shops EVER… and get this. It’s NOT Starbucks. Ok ok ok I know, I go to Starbucks every single morning. (Still do cause it’s so close to me). But while I was in San Diego the other day on Adams (adjacent to El Cajon Blvd), I found a little coffee shop called LeStat’s Coffeehouse and the WHOLE place is decorated like something out of an Anne Rice book. It looks like The Interview with the Vampire with a foggy chandelier, old rugs and a beaten up piano, all sorts of antique couches and area artists pieces on the walls. The whole place KICKS ASS! If any of you live in San Diego, I URGE you to check it out! It’s in Normal Heights by a bookstore and you can’t miss it. They have a selection of food too, I came in my panties eating a piece of chocolate cake with my coffee. My goodness it was HOT! Love it there!!!!

I’ve been looking around the San Diego area for a place to maybe start an art supply/studio store and checking out leasing prices. It’s frustrating because all the places I WANT to be located (University Heights, Normal Heights, Hillcrest, North and South Park) are all filled already with other businesses with no openings at all. And the places that ARE available are in areas that are low traffic and surrounded by the wrong audience so today I took a chance and drove down through National City and Chula Vista and found some places available but it’s so close to the Mexican border I’m afraid I might look like a bit of a dork starting a place when I barely know any Spanish. So that leaves me just a little flustered… maybe Pacific Beach or Mission Valley might be a better bet. Anyway that’s my little world right now. Even designed a logo for the new company as well as designed the layout and worked out the budget plan. I applied for a loan yesterday with a place that says I have a pretty ok chance of getting approved (I’m not holding my breath though). Will find out in 48 hours or less if they say yes or not. I would LOVE for them to say yes… my gawd. I can’t even imagine the possibilities. To be able to have keys to my own art building and just go crazy every day - a dream come true. Almost too good to be true if you ask me. Nothing comes this easy.

As many of you know, my favorite artist is Jennifer Janesko and just love everything about her style. Even met her a couple times! Well I purchased a set of 72 cards of hers off ebay for only ten bucks and have been studying her style (I’ve been studying lots of artists but she is by far my favorite) and decided to attempt a few “Janesko-style” sketches. Now keep in mind that these are NOT originals by me. She did the originals. The pictures you see below are MY sketches I copied from HER cards. So I can’t sell these or go distribute them all over the place, but I thought it’d be fun to share it. See? I’m versatile…

I did these versions:

Hope you like them!
Love,
Isabella
