Tonight Kevin and I went to Bennigan’s and had some yummy food… I had Atlantic salmon, a root beer float and some cheesecake yummy! It was the first time I’d ever had a root beer float and it certainly won’t be my last! It was soooo good! He ate a salad but I can’t remember for the life of me what type it was. It had a funky name though. Geeks are hot. Have I ever told you that? Then we went to Target and I bought $150 worth of cat food. Yes you heard right. $150 worth of cat food. Hey at least it will last John 2 months so he’ll stop meowing for food all the time. I feed him ALLLLL the time yet he meows for more. I feed him like 3 cans of Fancy Feast every day PLUS dry food all day. *sigh*
The SD Chargers had a football game today so traffic was a bitch, so instead of fighting with other cars in a long line, we decided to go to Ikea and Lowe’s and looked for gaming tables or something to be used as one. Any suggestions? Anyone know a place in SD with affordable tables with grids and drawers? Hmmm might be more practical to design one or modify one from a used furniture store or something. Anyway it was hilarious watching the two of us trying to be “all domestic” and stuff. LOL. Neither one of us are very domesticated. So I’d tease him every now and then and say “Darling would you think this eggshell carpet would match your wallpaper interior?” and he’d crack up LOL.
Afterwards we went to an improv comedy show in Clairemont Mesa and had a pretty good time. I’ve only been to one comedy club (it was on Broadway in NYC) but it was more stand-up than improv. So anyway we went and watched all the amateur performers do their improvisations (kinda like “Whose Line Is It?) which was really cool. Some of my improv lines that I wrote on anonymous notecards were used on stage. That made me feel all warm and fuzzy. And of course… feeling Kevin with his arm around me the whole time was a plus too.
Having a boyfriend is really new to me. And I like it. It’s so comforting to feel a warm hug or an arm around me. I felt so special tonight, just doing nonsense things. It’s the small things that count.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO FANCY FEAST!!!!!
OK, I just had to stop in the middle of your post to tell you that. If John eats too much fancy feast he runs a very good chance of getting tumors and dying. Something about lead dust in the food. My cat and a friends cat both died that way.
AWWW that post makes me feel warm inside.
omg that’s horrible… where did you find that information? I’ve been trying to research it online so I could read up on it. John won’t eat any other brand. He throws up any food EXCEPT fancy feast. I’m tempted to start buying him human food and feeding him things I eat or making him some handmade fresh food from the grocery store. If it is indeed true that fancy feast causes harm, then I’ll have to gradually get him off of it. My little John is my everything and I’d hate to see him get hurt.
mmmm makes me warm inside too (not just my pussy)
I wasn’t even thinking that!!
I didn’t read it anywhere. I just asked the vet when we had to put my baby down. He asked if he had any food or environment changes and that was the only one. I had given him to a “friend” when we had to move and she started him on fancy feast. He had been an indoor cat and she kept him that way. She just happened to switch his food. Another friend of mine had a cat that had to be put down for the same reason and she had also been giving her cat fancy feast. It really could just be a coincidence but I wouldn’t want to take a chance and not say anything.
Hi! I think I came here from Tassy’s journal. I also recommend you switch your cute little John Holmes from Fancy Feast to a healthier diet. Kidney failure is the number one cause of death in cats and while it kills many cats when they are old (13-15 years old) it also kills a lot of cats when they are still quite young (I had a beautiful black cat die at age 6). Anyway, kidney failure is linked primarily to poor diet.
I worked at a pet store for a while a few years ago. Until then, my family’s cats had always eaten grocery store pet food, but those kind of foods aren’t very good and they contain corn (you want food with rice) and a lot of junk/meat byproducts.
After evaluating the foods and talking to a bunch of the company representatives that would visit the store, I definitely recommend Nutro Pet Food. It’s a little expensive, but your cat will eat a lot less since the food is more nutritious (and he’ll use the litter box a lot less since he’ll absorb more of the food). It’s really great food for many reasons and I’ve switched all cats and dogs within the family onto Nutro. Everyone loves the results so far.
You should also make sure that he eats mostly dry food (but wet food is still a great treat!). It’s better for their digestion and helps clean off their teeth. I talked to my pets’ vet and she said that poor quality wet food is even worse for their kidneys than poor quality dry food (she didn’t really say why, so I’m not too sure if this is true).
Sorry this entry is so long and coming out of the blue…please don’t think that I’m lecturing you on pet care…I only know all of this from working at a pet store. It’s a really common mistake and I’ve never understood why only the poor quality cat foods advertise on TV. Anyway, I love cats and people who love cats!
I’m Megan, by the way. I don’t update my journal very often (I’m a busy college student like you), but I’ll probably stop by again and say hello sometime.
sure you weren’t *winks*
hi megan, nice to meet you! Thanks very much for the tips and things! I don’t care how expensive the Nutro cat food is… I love spoiling and loving my cat and he’s so worth it! I want him to be healthy, happy, and strong! Thanks so much for the tips, I’ll go to petco and see if they carry Nutro and if not, will special order it somewhere. Thank goodness I still have the receipt from target to return some of this fancy feast. John won’t eat lots of different catfoods like Iams, kibbles n bits, meow mix, 9 lives, and like 6 other brands I’ve fed him. Hopefully Nutro will be gentle on his stomach… thank you so much! I’ll take it to heart
All I can say is when you find a good thing don’t let it go.
I DEFINITELY appreciate you telling me… trust me, when it comes to my John I don’t have any personal pride in admitting when I’m wrong. I’ll look into some new foods that are healthier and better for him! And I am so grateful that you told me! I’d rather know now while he’s young than wait later in life and have him get sick. I love him so much! *hugs*
LOL it’s funny you say that… I’m definitely no ball and chain so if he goes that’s his perogative. But who’d ever wanna leave a Goddess like me? *giggles*
lol, I sure enough wouldn’t
Feed a Cat starve anyone who CUMS between Johns Food and a norther can will not hurt to shut the pussy up… Johns a supper cat and he is all male …. Hugs are always good for anyone …. you care about and Many more !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOL you got that right… *giggles* he is a little bundle of love and meows a lot when he’s hungry!
My maid will return most of the Fancy Feast to Target for me and will get me an in-store credit. I’ll gradually ween him off the fancy stuff and try to get him to eat more healthy things like tuna that humans would eat
