Today I spent some time in front of the tube to just unwind and relax.
So I watched a couple South Park episodes… I used to think they were stupid (without really watching them, I just stereotyped the show because people would imitate Cartman and the voice annoyed me). However, in my “open mind” mood, I taped two shows on my DVR and watched them and I gotta say, I was pretty impressed. It’s so tongue in cheek and even though they’re funny about it, it’s all based on pretty real stuff. No wonder people call it social commentary. One of episodes I saw was the one where everyone thought “gay was in” and all the boys would call themselves “metrosexual” and dress “gay” but when they’d go to gay clubs, they wouldn’t actually go home with the homosexuals. I really, REALLY liked that episode. (I also liked the scientology episode revolving around Tom Cruise and his crazy alien beliefs and burst out laughing at the line, “Come out of the closet, Tom,” when he hid in a closet.)
Also watched Saturday Night Live and was pretty impressed with Scarlett Johansson. Not only is she fine as hell, but she’s funny and lit it up. I swear, I don’t think my eyes moved away from her the whole time. Wow. Her skin is so flawless. Beautiful. Beautiful. She’s one woman who really does it for me. She’s smart, funny, great at ad-libbing, talented, and just plain hot.
Gotta love the Twilight Zone. Every episode really makes you think. It’s also a great show to watch when you swear you’re living in your own twilight zone, so it really takes the edge off.

South Park really is one of the better commentaries on how silly, shallow, stupid and whiny our society has become. i laughed non-stop at the scientology episode. And the one later where they got rid of the Chef character, who was voiced by Isaac Hayes, a Scientologist. He was so offended by the first episode, he demanded an apology and was wanting special treatment for scientology, since they make fun of pretty much everything. So they offed his character in a really messed up way, and chef’s voice parts where clearly spliced together clips from other shows since Isaac wouldn’t do it, but in a hilarious way. And at the end at chef’s funeral they did a speech, saying his odd behavior and messed up way of leaving weren’t his fault, but the fault of that “crazy club” that had brainwashed him and screwed him up. hahaha
They did a great take on AA too that i’m sure pissed off tons of people who buy into the victim mentality so many people are so into.

By the way today I saw two more episodes: one was about Hybrid cars and how San Franciscans have their heads so far up their asses they smell their own farts. Haha so hilarious… And also the other episode where the kids sent a whale to the moon. Very creative stuff

The beauty of south park is that the show makes fun of EVERYONE except the children. Every group gay or straight blahblahblah.

Actually, you have to watch out with South Park. Increasingly, the show is devolving into blatant conservative propaganda. Sure, they make fun of “everyone”, but the real vitriol they reserve for exaggerated liberal stereotypes. They’ve been doing it since the first season with “Mecha-Streisand”, but more and more it seems they just come down hard on the right-wing side of issues. I think they’re funniest when they avoid politics altogether and deal with stuff that really affects kids. And the best cartoons, IMHO, are a few channels over on Adult Swim.
