Hey, if you haven't already try tempeh. It's really nutty and good and full of protein. There is also a meatless product called seitan that you can find in stores which is really good.

A good trick is to look for the kosher certification; it will usually have a small D next to it or say 'dairy' if there is any dairy in it, or even if it is derived from dairy. This is necessary because we don't eat meat products and dairy products together, so we need to know what's what.

I applaud your new eating habits! I was so happy when I saw that you picked up Skinny Bitch and it impacted you that way (well except for the lost lunch part, cuz that's not so cool). Anyway, this is not the easiest lifestyle by far, but your determination will see you through. :) As for the weight gain- one, your body is adjusting. Two- watch the sodium level of things. A lot of things are processed with lots of salt to make them taste better, so sticking to the fresh fruits and veggies are best and then add in your soy for a few meals a week (I'd guess at one per day?). I'd probably also suggest not using the RDA for sodium. Using less than that is immensely helpful in the weight loss endeavor. Aside from the unhealthy effects of lots of added sodium, sodium will also trigger cravings- be it more salt or sugar!
*whew* Sorry, didn't mean to go on so much. Just wanted to share what I have learned along the way. :) Kudos for making such a positive change. :D

ps- I like www.vegweb.com for some great recipes.

I'm a carnivore through and through, but even I will recommend you pick up the Veganomicon: The Ultimate Vegan CookBook. The recipes in this are MIND-BLOWING, I haven't had a bad meal yet from my veg/vegan friends!!

My only advice is that you should season to your tastes, because the dishes can be slightly bland, and substituting local veg products is highly encouraged. :)
